More than 300,000 farmers in India have committed suicide till date, plagued by crop failure, drought and debt. The awareness campaign began with an exhibition. 12 portraits of dead farmers were created from dry, burnt hay, displayed and auctioned. The very cause of their undoing proved to be a beacon of hope for them. Photographs of the hay portraits were replicated in print ads and posters and used to drive traffic to the exhibition held in Mumbai.
