"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” was one of the most important theatrical movie releases for 2013 for Warner Brothers, New Line and MGM. To create excitement among the fans of "The Hobbit" for the upcoming release, the studios wanted to give them a unique perspective on the world of "The Hobbit". In collaboration with Google and North Kingdom, the new capabilities of Chrome for Mobile devices were used to create a birds-eye view of Middle-earth. This enabled users to freely explore the world in their Chrome browsers, on their smartphones, tablets or desktops.
