Our video was made to promote ‘Life is Music’, a song by the Japanese band SOUR. The song is about the circle of life, and how music is its rhythm maker. We came up with the idea of using the spinning CD as a Phenakistoscope – a spinning wheel that uses animation to give the illusion of moving images. We created the entire music video using 189 spinning CDs. The CDs used in the video were then sold on a specially designed website as limited edition art discs, giving fans the opportunity to own part of the video. Discs were also given to the supporters on the two crowdfunding sites, GreenFunding and Kickstarter.
