For this special issue of Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin we formed an unlikely alliance: the magazine was produced in collaboration with Zeit magazine, our competitor from Berlin (which ran an issue about the same topic at the same time). We shared the cover idea of Spy v Spy and featured stories that referenced each other. We followed Berlin’s anti-motorcycle gang police – and Zeit magazine described how the German Hell’s Angels cope with arrests. We had a reporter walk the 600 km from Munich to Berlin, while a reporter from our competitor walked it in the other direction.
