Election Issue

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Magazine & Newspaper Design / Entire Magazines / 2013

We took Ronald Reagan’s famous speech in which he asked the American people if they felt better or worse off than four years ago and applied it to Obama’s period in office. We open with a black and white shot of the inauguration in 2009 overlaid with facts about the state of the nation then. From there we look at what has since happened in the US; cost of living, employment, security and housing issues are investigated. We conclude with a shot of Washington from the same vantage point, taken two days before we published, with the same set of facts updated to 2012.
