The Calgary Zoo’s 2011 annual report lives and breathes the zoo’s conservation values. Printed in one ink on one side of a 100% post-consumer newsprint sheet, the annual saved reams of paper and ink. Plus, the print run was done in just over six minutes. When the Calgary Zoo asked us to design its annual report on a limited budget and time, we used those constraints to our advantage. In just over a week four designers and a writer conceptualised, wrote and designed the 5,000-word annual. The design team divided the space into four, each focusing on a quarter section.
