London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies – Audience Pixel Content

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Graphic Design / Moving Image (Graphic Design) / 2013

Following an intensive period of creative and technical research and development for the 70,500 LED paddles attached to each seat in the Olympic Stadium, Crystal CG created over 14 hours of moving image content for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The production and implementation required close collaboration with 59 Productions, Treatment Studio, and the LOCOG Ceremonies AV team. The resulting immersive experience extended the visual canvas from the field of play up into the stadium audience, making it part of the show and enhancing the broadcast spectacle.
