Claro, Guatemala’s largest cable provider, teamed up with HBO to increase subscriptions to the premium channel. It decided to take down the usual blank screen that non- subscribers see and replace it with half of the HBO picture. Suddenly, viewers could see what they were missing – getting half of a great story is even worse than not getting the story at all.
