Reconstructed Kanji 'Ice, Snow'
Graphite Pencil / Typography / Typography for Design / 2012
A commemorative poster for the centennial of a font called Shuei-tai, which 24 Japanese graphic designers were asked to design. I wanted to show a new expression of Shuei-tai, even though it's the traditional font with 100 years of history. I disassembled the form of Kanji, and reconstructed it once again, designing it so that the original meaning can be maintained, as well as the meaning Kanji has in the different form. Disassembly and reconstruction of the Kanji for ‘ice’ and ‘snow’ respectively.
