Summer into Dust

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Spatial Design / Installations / 2012

Summer into Dust premiered at the Coachella Music Festival 2011 in Indio, California. Incorporated into the headlining performance of the band Arcade Fire, the installation consisted of 1,500 balls designed with programmable and sound reacting LED lights that cascaded from the top of the 70-foot stage into the audience of 100,000 fans. The ball drop was timed with the final song and encore of the show. After the show the balls were switched into sound reactive mode so they could be taken away like spores.
