The Sound of Football

For this Pepsi Refresh project, we accepted the challenge to invent a new way for visually impaired people to play football. We used augmented reality sound to guide them in real time on the field. They could hear where the ball was, as well as the other players, the goals, and the side lines. The project was released as open source, and Society 46 is now collaborating with scientists in the field. Discovery Channel did a documentary about the project, which has been featured in ‘Fast Company’, and has won Most Contagious and a Webby Award.
