City of the Netherlands: the Future in Motion

Award: Yellow Pencil

Yellow Pencil / Graphic Design / Stamps / 2012

The Dutch Post Office asked Gummo to design a series of stamps on the theme of ‘City of the Netherlands: The Future in Motion’. The stamps would celebrate Dutch architecture and feature five as yet unconstructed architectural projects. To show the plans to their full potential, we decided to enhance the limitations of a stamp’s small, 2D surface by adding a 3D layer. By using augmented reality, the buildings could come to life in 3D to reveal their full majesty. All you had to do was hold the stamp in front of a computer to catch a glimpse of the Netherlands’ future.
