Since 1964, The Injured Jockeys Fund has helped jockeys whose careers have been affected by serious injury. Traditionally supported by the racing establishment and celebrities within the sport, the charity wanted to raise its profile amongst younger race-goers. We created a typeface with each letter composed from details of UK regulation racing silk patterns. When produced as individual posters and arranged appropriately, the typeface allows the charity to communicate to race-goers in a bold, refreshingly colourful way. The first example spells ‘HELP’, identifying the charity as care providers while subtly appealing for support.
