Atlas Air
Graphite Pencil / Music Videos / Animation for Music Videos / 2011
Previous Massive Attack video ‘Splitting the Atom’ was smooth exposition. ‘Atlas Air’ is a different story – it’s hyper-kinetic, focused on the symbolic, shapeshifting, death-bringing beast, rampaging through an increasingly recognisable landscape. ‘Atlas Air’, released in aid of UK charity War Child, revealed the backstory, with a video that’s just as remarkable as its predecessor. ‘I decided to make a prequel to the ‘Splitting the Atom’ clip, while leaving interpretation to the viewer to a certain extent, but mixing it with the real sense of the song and the text of Robert Del Naja,’ explains Edouard Salier.
