David Sandlin Subway Posters

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Illustration / Illustration for Design / 2011

The School of Visual Arts’ now iconic posters have been serving as an advertising and recruiting vehicle for the college since the 1950s. Seen by millions of commuters in the NYC subway system, past posters have been designed by distinguished illustrators and designers including Milton Glaser, Paula Scher, George Tscherny and James Victore. The posters have come to represent the collective history, innovation and talent of SVA. The 2010 posters were designed by David Sandlin, renowned painter, printmaker and cartoonist who has published and exhibited widely both in Europe and the United States.
