Each year, the Surfrider Foundation invites volunteers to clean beaches around the world during a three-day operation called Ocean Initiatives. This year, the Surfrider Foundation wanted to remind people that even the smallest pieces of trash (macro-waste) are just as toxic for the environment as oil spills, which are greater in scale and receive much more media coverage.
