Bus Driver's Prayer Poster

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Typography / Typefaces / 2010

As part of the London Design Festival we were invited to design a poster about London. We chose to feature Ian Dury’s ‘Bus Driver’s Prayer’ on our poster, as a brilliant and irreverent celebration of the city. We wanted to capture the robust character of a bus, so we modified the English sans-serif typeface Granby. Our research into old type-settings of the Lord’s Prayer lead to the creation of extended ligatures within the letterforms. The small numbers displayed like footnotes are the bus numbers from one location in the lyrics to the next.
