Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Press Advertising / Newspaper Press Advertising Colour / 2010

In February 2009 the Honda factory in Swindon stopped its production of cars for four months. Rather than make people redundant, Honda decided to stop making cars and retool the factory, keeping workers in their jobs. In June the factory reopened. We looked back to the past and to how Honda had dealt with situations before. There was a commonly known economical term called ‘The Honda Effect’, meaning the company changes its long term goals in order to deal with current situations. We wanted to tell the story of the reopening and celebrate the effect that a factory like Honda’s has on the local and wider community.
