Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Photography / Magazine & Newspaper Design / 2010

For their June 2009 issue, Wallpaper* produced a ‘Made in China’ special, documenting all the latest artistic, cultural, architectural and business innovations emerging from the country. As part of this issue, artist Li Wei and his team of acrobats created and shot a fashion story in and around Beijing. They staged gravity-defying stunts, seeming to float and fly around the city, which resulted in a jaw-dropping series of pictures. All the stunts were staged as they appear in the story; the only post-production undertaken was to remove the safety cables holding the performers up in some of the more dangerous set-ups.
