Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen
Wood Pencil / Environmental Design / Permanent Exhibitions / 2010
The newly founded museum ‘The dream of flight’ is dedicated to the inventions of the Dornier company. Recently collected artefacts, ranging from the very small to the very large, had to be integrated into a consistent scenography. The aim was to present the exhibits in a vivid, self-explanatory way. The museum hangar is an authentic location for the aircraft. To discover the spirit of Dornier, two storylines are offered: coloured cubes concentrate on thematic units, while the so-called museum box, which seems to levitate within the building, provides a chronological overview of the company’s history. The pathway shows content-generatedspatial narratives with interactively staged exhibits.
