Orcon provides New Zealand’s fastest broadband. To stand out from bigger spending competitors, it launched an innovative product demonstration campaign. The idea was to find nine kiwi musicians and simultaneously link them from their homes to Iggy Pop in his Miami studio via Skype, in order to re-record his iconic track, ‘The Passenger’. Iggy appeared in TV ads, banners and street posters calling for people to audition online, through a specially built Facebook application. Iggy chose his band and, on the day, coached them live online and orchestrated a brand new arrangement. The content was then used to make a campaign of truly stand-out TV commercials.
