Filtainer is the latest filter for the KAF (the Kantian Arsenic Filter), a household drinking water treatment device used in developing countries. It removes arsenic, pathogens, iron, turbidity, odour, and contaminants from drinking water. All of these unfavourable substances, in particular arsenic, commonly exist in the ground-water of many countries. Filtainer was developed with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and ENPHO. It is user-friendly for a population that is poor and little or no education. All parts can be produced locally in developing countries via simple and low cost methods; all filtration substances can be found locally. Important design breakthroughs ensure safe and efficient water filtering, including clog-free performance by the patented Clogfree Flow Regulator.
