True Evidence of War
Wood Pencil / Poster Advertising / Pavement Posters / 2009
The war in Georgia drew great attention. But owing to the sensitive political situation that dominated the media, most people didn’t even know about the horrific civilian suffering taking place. Our assignment was to make people aware of the dreadful circumstances and raise donations for the refugees. To gain full insight, we (the creative team) travelled to Georgia shortly after the war and collected personal belongings we found abandoned amongst the rubble. To find what we were looking for we visited bombed-out villages, military hospitals and private homes, and relatives of civilian victims. These pieces of physical evidence, accompanied by their stories, were placed into ten billboards, demonstrating that the war may have ended but the suffering had only just begun.
