Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
Wood Pencil / Music Videos / Animation / 2009
Tobias Stretch's amazing film for Radiohead's 'Weird Fishes/Arpeggi' is unusual to say the least. Not only did Tobias shoot and edit the film single handed, he also designed and built all the extraordinary life-size puppets, some of them over seven feet tall. These wildly surreal puppets soar over tranquil lakes, lush trees and at times, 60 feet in the air. Over 4,000 still images assemble to create this dramatic high-flying stop-motion fairytale. Sixty days of shooting, twelve hours a day in the transcendent wilderness of the Appalachian Mountains of northern Pennsylvania was what it took to make this psychotic dream a waking reality.
