Not For Tourists Guide to London 2009

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Book Design / Entire Books / 2009

Not For Tourists is a project that was created to enhance people's experiences of urban areas. Unlike a tourist guide that covers very limited ground, it has a greater area of coverage as well as more useful and comprehensive content. It combines point of interest and destination information with maps for navigation. From NFT's conception, it’s been a major endeavour to fit that amount of content into a small, portable book form while making it easy and intuitive to use. The challenge in expanding to London has been to maintain a cohesive, consistent design, while taking the city's unique characteristics and culture into consideration. A book written by locals and for locals, NFT could not have successfully crossed the Atlantic without the many contributors to NFT London. Thank you.
