Night Drive

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / TV & Cinema Crafts / Direction / 2008

We experience the journey of a man as he goes on a late night drive through the empty streets of LA, a time when most people are sleeping and you’re away from the noise and distractions of the day. We absorb the sights during his journey – sights that capture the beauty, mystery and quietness of the night. The mood is enhanced by an accompanying piece of music by Cliff Martinez and an extract from ‘Under Milkwood’ by Dylan Thomas, read by the late, great Richard Burton. The endline reads, ‘When was the last time you just went for a drive?’
