TBWAHakuhodo Tokyo
Wood Pencil / Environmental Design / Workplace / 2008
Global advertising agencies TBWATokyo and HakuhodoG1 decided to establish a joint venture in Tokyo. Working with them, we found an old bowling alley in a large eight-storey amusement complex in downtown Tokyo. Bowling alleys are column free and, after removing the suspended ceiling, a double height space with down-stand beams two metres deep was revealed. The rhythm of these beams lead the office to be arranged in bowling lanes with circulation space between them. A central park runs through the middle, while a series of shelters for meetings and project rooms generate a townscape in the office. The raised areas on top of these shelters are ideal for breakout spaces.
