Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Environmental Design / Leisure & Tourism / 2008

Stuttgart’s bar and club mile is an inner-city boulevard called the Theodor-Heuss-Strasse, named after Germany’s first president, Theodor Heuss. In the midst of this highly competitive neighbourhood of bars and nightclubs, our task was to build a new club over three floors. The club is designed as a homage to our first president, who was also known as a bon viveur with a fine sense of humour. At the same time, the club pays tribute to the regeneration of the boulevard in which it is situated. We created a strong and distinctive visual appearance, focused around a black and white, urban theme, combined with mirrors and dramatic white illustrations.
