The Interactive Dive Cage
Wood Pencil / Digital Installations / Digital Installations / 2008
At Bournemouth Oceanarium, the world’s first interactive dive cage features over 100 photo-realistic animations and interactive activities. Up to 20 people are immersed in a 270-degree view of the ocean, where they can interact with great white sharks, dolphins and manta-rays. Comprehensive content is delivered by three bespoke applications, which synchronise sound, lighting, graphics, video and composite CG imagery. At set intervals the entire cage enters show mode – it is swallowed by a giant blue whale and the entire group enjoys a fascinating journey through its internal biology. The installation launch generated significant local and national coverage including press, radio and TV.
