A Book of Wonder
Wood Pencil / Book Design / Entire Books / 2008
In April 2007, Selfridges & Co. commissioned Robert Violette and Violette Editions to create a book on the subject of wonder, a cross between ‘The Book of Kells’ and Cheap Date magazine, to be published by Selfridges for the opening of their Wonder Room, a luxury goods department at their Oxford Street store. The book was intended to be used as a promotional item, and also as a published work on the subject, to be distributed in bookshops. The client handed control of the conceptual, editorial, creative and production aspects of the book to Robert Violette, who coedited it with Jane Withers, a consultant for Selfridges & Co. Violette commissioned Kerr/Noble for design and art direction.
