Simon Schama's 'Power of Art' series profiles artists and their historic period in the historian's characteristically intense style. The opening sequence needed to both establish and reinforce this mood. It aims to create a strong, visceral statement, slowly filling the screen with blood, creating a sense of quiet anxiety with its strong composition.
