Award: Wood Pencil
Wood Pencil / TV & Cinema Crafts / Animation & Motion Graphics / 2007
We open on a piece of paper. Gradually the space is filled with doodles that make up a broken heart. A person appears and picks up the heart, but it falls apart and drifts to the floor. The doodles continue to appear, swamping the person who then has to swim to the surface of a river of doodles. As he makes his way to the shore a staircase grows before him and he starts to climb it. Just as he reaches halfway, the staircase flips over, sending him flying back into the river. We pull out of this to see an eye made up of doodled paper, the line "Things on your mind?" and the Samaritans' contact details.
