The themes of the song are drink and drug induced horrors. The idea of treating this as a supernatural horror film referencing various classics of the genre came from Dawn. This developed into a more specific and personal treatment after collaboration with Mike. He plays a trapped and haunted protagonist, locked in a generic, tasteful hotel room as he struggles to overcome writer's block. The paper, like the words, constantly escapes his grasp and ultimately leads him to an untimely end, bumping his head and drowning in a bath of brandy. In a sub-plot, a real girlfriend is haunted and replaced by her zombie alter-ego. An undead butler and a pair of hoody ghouls add to the general ghostly ambience.
