Lefty had served 25 years of a life sentence for murdering a man in a bar fight. Lefty had always felt pain in one of his arms from an early motorbike accident that happened during his teens – he felt that if he had this arm removed, it would remove the pain. It did not. Lefty told me if he had not been in prison he would probably not have elected to remove the arm, but such was the course of his life . . .
