Wood Pencil / TV & Cinema Graphics / Promotional Non-Broadcast / 2006
This was a series of short films that ran during the Live 8 concert to highlight poverty in Africa and encourage people to sign up for 'Make Poverty History'. In ‘Masks’, African children in a shanty town are wearing masks of the G8 leaders faces. In ‘Restaurant’, a starving African child sits at the same dinner table as two white couples, indulging in great gluttony, to highlight the disparity between the first and third world. In ‘Candles’, a series of African children blow out a candle every three seconds, highlighting the fact that a child dies in the Third World of extreme poverty every three seconds. In ‘Money’, poor Africans display luxury goods to highlight how much we spend each year on them.
