Ice Skating Priests
Wood Pencil / TV & Cinema Advertising / TV Commercials 41 - 120 Seconds / 2006
The third Stella Artois advert to be directed by Jonathan Glazer focuses on the adventures of hundreds of priests playing on the frozen lake just outside their abbey's grounds in Poland. A young priest is sent to fetch a crate of beer. As he returns, stepping back onto the lake, he immediately falls through the ice and disappears into the freezing waters below. Panic ensues until the lost priest resurfaces in a distant hole in the ice. When his brothers rush over toward him, it is clear that they have no interest in his well-being, but rather in their favourite beer which is sinking in front of their eyes. The soaking priest, who has barely managed to drag himself out of the water, is beckoned to fulfil his duty: he dives back into the freezing waters to rescue the bottles of Stella Artois.
