Rosenbauer Panther
Wood Pencil / Product Design / Transport / 2006
The aim of the Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 redevelopment project was to gear the vehicles design and engineering towards airport fire brigades future requirements. The focus was placed on ergonomics, a dynamic design, safety, modern materials, high-performance fire-fighting systems and adaptation to new environmental regulations. Spirit Design has used a vigorous styling language to stress such attributes as reliability, safety, power and dynamism. The eight by eight model will be based on the new 1000HP rear-engine MAN chassis with an Allison automatic transmission. The cab has a panoramic windscreen made of safety glass and completely transparent doors. The front and side panes extend a long way up and down, giving the driver an unobstructed wide-angle view of his surroundings. The electric swing-forward doors close automatically at a speed of five kilometres per hour.
