This is part of an on-going brief to creatively repackage Homebase’s own brand products. DIY retailer Homebase, traditionally packaged their barbecues in brown card outers with no imagery or information graphics, and piled them high next to display models; finding the one you wanted was no mean feat. The solution was to create some in-store theatre with fully printed boxes featuring larger than life, mouth-wateringly delicious images of barbecued food. As well as making customers immediately crave a barbecue, the images also helped them find their chosen model, as the on-pack images were also used for point of sale. So all customers needed to look for was the red onion, the corn on the cob, the sausage, the burger... whilst the disposable BBQ’s were given mustard and ketchup squiggles and the firelighters red hot chilli peppers.
