The Oakley Vision system is an intuitively integrated set of product hardware, and software. The products consist of the Vision Headset and the Vision Touch. These products work seamlessly together to give the user a safer, more comfortable and enhanced commuting experience. The primary feature of Oakley Vision is the rear facing micro wide angled HD camera (located on the Vision Headset) that wirelessly transmits visual data to the Vision Touch so that the user can instantly see behind them without having to turn their head, and therefore keeping control of their bike. Other functions that this system offers is an integrated navigational system, with bone conduction headphone incorporated in to the headset giving audio directions to the cyclist; a front facing micro HD camera that records the user’s journeys; a social networking system (accessed via the internet and integrated within the Vision Touch) allowing users to track their progress against other riders and share video footage, statistics and routes; a flashing rear safety light; interchangeable Oakley lenses; and a quick and simple bike release mount for the Vision Touch. The devices have micro USB slots (protected with rubber bungs) that allow the units to be charged. The user can use the Vision products on a commute and charge the devices up during the day at work. A charge would last for several hours to accommodate for the full commute, but also allowing for a slimmer battery, creating a lightweight, slim-lined product solution. As technologies develop, a potential future feature for the Vision system could be to wirelessly transmit the cyclist’s location to SatNav and portable location devices located within vehicles within a certain range. This function would notify the vehicle driver that they are approaching a cyclist and make them aware of their presence. This feature would need a live-feed satellite system to instantly alert these SatNav devices.
