My aim was to create a clinical but natural design for a city hotel room where guests would revitalise. The building’s façade is made of a glass pipe structure that resembles a leaf. These pipes are filled with water where algae microorganisms grow and produce oxygen, biomass and biofuel. This fuel is used for the building’s energy needs making it self-sufficient. At the same time, the structure creates the feel of nature within the sealed city environment. The Algae Suite’s comfortable and revitalising experience creates an atmosphere where clients would want to return, and would tell their friends to choose IHG’s latest hotel.
