New Blood Entry — Ric Gravina

Award: In Book

Open Brief - What Else Do You Do? / 2011

The brief set was to produce a new version of the book 'The Metamorphosis' by Franz Kafka, which is the story of Gregor Samza and his families misfortune when he wakes up and he has been transformed into a bug. This new version did not have to engage with all of the conventions of a normal book.

The book I produced at first glance seems conventional, with a designed cover and the first few pages been conventionally typeset.

As the book progress' and Gregor's language gets worse, the typography in the book matches what is happening and deteriorates in different ways.
