Welcome to the D&AD President's Lectures Spring 2009
Well, series one came and went in a flash.
Kyle Cooper dropped in from LA and mesmerised us with some beautiful work and power play stories from Hollywood. Matt Pyke lit up Liverpool with stunning work produced by a network of artists, one central server and a shed. Michael Peters talked through his amazing life story and Sanky dazzled us with his eclectic take on life and some very shiny shoes.
So here we are with a new series, keeping with the theme of inspiration from all walks of life, we have yet another varied collection of talks.
Jonathan Ellery will be sharing Browns studio work and his own provocative personal work.
David Hillman will be showing his award-winning designs from a career spanning over 40 years.
Jan van Toorn, one of the most significant and influential Dutch Graphic Designers to have emerged since the early 1960s, will be showing his work.
Luke Williamson, joint Creative Director of leading advertising agency, WCRS, will share his ideas and tell us what it was like directing Darth Vader.
Iconic designer Peter Saville will be on the couch, talking about his career, current thinking and upcoming projects.
And to finish off we have three speakers on one night showing some unseen early work from college and just after: Sir John Hegarty, BBH; Malcolm Venville, Therapy Films and Joel Gethin Lewis; YesYesNo.
And remember, D&AD is not just about winning those elusive yellow and black pencils; Im proud to remind you that every penny D&AD makes is ploughed back into our Education programme, to inspire the next generation of Hillman, Hegarty and Hamms!
