Michael Peters is a pioneer of the international design industry. For over 35 years he has helped revolutionize the relationship between design and business and his influence on businesses and consumers has been considerable.

He has worked with clients ranging from Nike to the BBC, via Universal Studios, Martell, Vodafone, The Conservative Party, British Airways and Johnnie Walker whisky.

Michael Peters has changed the face of the design business in the UK and has challenged his peers and the entrepreneurs of his generation to embrace creativity and its relevance to good business practice. Peters initially studied graphic design and typography at the London School of Printing and later won a scholarship to the School of Art and Architecture at Yale, where he studied for his Master of Fine Arts Degree under the famed Paul Rand and Josef Albers. He subsequently worked for CBS television in New York and then set up the design department for advertising agency Collett, Dickenson and Pearce eventually setting up his own company – Michael Peters and Partners.

A highlight among the many D&AD awards and triumphs of his career was being awarded the OBE for his services to design and marketing. He helped found the Design Business Association and the School of Communication Arts. He also famously became identity consultant to the Conservative Party, working closely with Margaret Thatcher to design the Conservative Party logo.

Michael Peters’ company was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1983. He started Identica in 1992 which has become one of Europe’s leading branding and identity consultancies.

Having recently sold Identica, Peters continues to promote and lecture on the power of design. He has a new book ‘Yes Logo’ that will be published in October.

Peters will be reviewing his controversial career, relaying his experiences and vision for the future.
