True Detective explored the dark heart of Louisiana, revealing a story of exploitation, corrupted characters and poisoned places. Inspired by photographic double exposures, the title sequence used broken images of this ravaged environment to build fragmented portraits of its inhabitants. Religion, sex, violence, wild beasts and echoes of the apocalypse can be seen running through the images of these tortured souls.
