Donor Wall

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Graphic Design / Wayfinding & Environmental Graphics / 2011

The donor wall was the key element of a comprehensive graphic programme created to revitalise the Oakland Museum of California. Located along the central staircase that connects all levels of the museum, the donor wall animates an important circulation space. When viewed in its entirety, the donor wall appears as an abstract representation of ivy, enlivening the concrete walls of the staircase and referencing nearby gardens. The non-hierarchical organisation of the donor wall showcases the collective contributions of the community, rather than highlighting individual donors.
