Marcus’s working life started in the early 1980s as an Art Director at J. Walter Thompson. Shortly after, he realised he was actually much better at writing sentences than he was at drawing pictures of boxes of washing powder, jars of pickles and packets of cigarettes. And the good folks at Berkeley Square were kind enough to let him give it a go.
Several years later he decided to return to his Northern roots and gained employment with an agency in Manchester called Broughton Jacques, which no longer exists (Marcus denies it was his fault). This was followed by a year at Robson Brown in Newcastle and then a return to Manchester – this time to BJL where he can still be found writing sentences.
