Mike began his career by failing as a rock musician.
He then nearly ended it with a B.Comm.
His heart prevailed, with an internship at JWT. He then went on to be a junior writer at Hunt Lascaris, eventually emerging as John Hunt’s deputy.
On the eve of South Africa’s first democratic election, April ’94, Mike co-founded Net#work.
Ranked South Africa’s top Creative Director for the past eleven years, Mike also managed a Lifetime Achievement Award, youngest inductee to South Africa’s Advertising Hall of Fame, Financial Mail’s ‘most influential person in advertising’ and this year, Adreview’s Advertising Person of the Year.
Beyond his 15 consecutive Loerie Grand Prix local awards, two Cannes Grand Prix and awards at D&AD and OneShow, Mike’s burning hope is for creativity to make a real difference: enhancing lives, enriching people, uplifting South Africa.
His greatest inspiration: Martin Luther King’s ‘We‘re not where we want to be and we’re not where we’re going to be, but we sure are a long way from where we were’.
