The Brighter Side
This is the story of five children who go for a walk along an isolated, windswept beach. It’s cold and gloomy and miserable. In frustration, one of the children throws a rock up at the grey mantle of clouds. Amazingly, magically, the stone travels up, up, up until it pierces the clouds, and lets the sunshine in. Just like that, their day is transformed into something bright and wonderful. This film is a simple metaphor for ITV1. It’s about how ITV1 – the brighter side – can cut through the grey and gloom and once again make everything seem colourful and light.
