‘Fantastic Journey’ depicts a magical train ride. A passenger using Virgin Media is thrown into several entertainment-based experiences without ever leaving his carriage.Scene changes had to be seamless. This was achieved using well-timed cuts, matching set dimensions and lighting. It was important to make each transition a surprise for both the viewer and hero, while never settling for too long in each environment. Momentum was key.Sound was a huge factor in creating the dreamlike experience. ‘Into Dust’ by Mazzy Star brought a deep emotional tone, while distant sound effects enhanced the feeling of unreality.
