Pinocchio City

This project is a series of workshops for children living in Kashiwanoha Campus City near Tokyo. Through the programme, children learn community and communication design with an architect, urban planner, artist and town manager. They design, build, decorate, manage anddemolish their ideal city. Pinocchio-shaped white cardboard is the only material used to build these paper cities. It is light and easy for children to handle, can be painted in many colours, and can be recycled after demolition. By combining Pinocchio boards, children can makearches, gates, towers and houses of different sizes for their cities.
